American singer-songwriter Cat Power returns to Australia for a run of special anniversary shows performing her seminal album The Greatest in full – alongside songs from her extraordinary catalogue spanning the last three decades. This unmissable performance comes to the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne as part of the Live at the Gardens series on Thursday 3 December.

Twenty years on, Cat Power’s The Greatest is still one of the most astounding records ever to be heard – a late-night classic that transports you back to 2006, feeling just as intimate today as when it first blew our minds and broke our hearts two decades ago.

Joining Cat Power at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne will be special guests Courtney Marie Andrews and Hedge Burners.

Cat Power
Cat Power is the acclaimed project of Chan Marshall, one of indie music’s most influential and emotionally fearless voices. Known for smoky vocals and raw honesty, Cat Power blends folk, blues, rock and soul into songs of stark beauty and vulnerability. Across a career spanning decades, Marshall has released landmark albums including Moon Pix, You Are Free, The Greatest - which won the Shortlist Music Prize - as well as Sun and Covers Record. Widely praised by critics and peers, Cat Power is Grammy‑nominated and renowned for live performances that are intimate, unpredictable and quietly devastating.

Courtney Marie Andrews
Courtney Marie Andrews is one of the most compelling voices in contemporary Americana, known for her deeply personal songwriting and striking, expressive voice. Blending folk, country and indie influences, her music is rooted in raw honesty - exploring love, loss and resilience with poetic precision and emotional depth. Over more than a decade of touring and critically acclaimed releases, including her breakthrough album Honest Life and the Grammy‑nominated Old Flowers, Andrews has built a reputation as a master storyteller whose songs resonate long after the final note.

Hedge Burners
Hedge Burners are a Melbourne-based outfit delivering a gritty, no-frills take on alternative rock. Built on driving guitars, tight rhythms and a raw, restless energy, their sound leans into urgency and attitude - crafted for loud rooms and live stages. With a stripped-back approach and a focus on feel over polish, Hedge Burners cut through with a sound that’s both immediate and hard to ignore.
