Pioneering national youth music charity The Push will celebrate 40 years of championing young people and Australian music with Push Over – 40 Years of The Push, a landmark celebration at Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne on Saturday 21 November, as part of the Live at the Gardens series. 

Featuring Bodyjar, Frenzal Rhomb, Killing Heidi, Magic Dirt and Regurgitator, this one-day-only special event brings together artists whose music didn’t just provide the soundtrack for generations of young Australians, but helped define them.

And in a treat for fans, each headlining artist will be joined on stage for a special guest appearance by Alex Lahey, Alice Ivy, Baker Boy, members of Public Figures, Ruby Fields and Teenage Joans, each with a personal connection to The Push.

For those who were there, it's a chance to relive it. For everyone else, it's a chance to be part of it.

Section 3 of the Liquor Control Reform Act defines a responsible adult as a person who is of or over the age of 18 years and who is:
- the younger person's parent, step-parent, guardian or grandparent; or
- the younger person's spouse; or
- a person who is acting in place of a parent and who could reasonably be expected to exercise responsible supervision of the younger person.

The Push's impact was celebrated in 2024 when it was inducted into the Music Victoria Hall of Fame, an acknowledgement of a powerful legacy that reverberates across the country. This year, The Push launched its National Plan for Young Australians and Music, a 10-year blueprint to build consistent contemporary music infrastructure for young people across Australia

 


Bodyjar
Bodyjar are Melbourne’s pop‑punk lifers - a band that’s spent decades turning breakneck riffs and big, melodic hooks into anthems for the skate‑punk generation. Emerging in the ’90s, they built a loyal global following on relentless touring and punchy records like No Touch Red and the gold‑selling How It Works, cementing their place in Aussie punk history. 
Fast, catchy and built for loud singalongs, Bodyjar remain one of Australia’s most enduring and respected punk exports - all grit, hooks and zero filler.


Frenzal Rhomb
Frenzal Rhomb are Sydney’s loud, fast and gloriously unfiltered punk lifers - dishing out razor‑sharp riffs, breakneck tempos and zero‑filter humour since the early ’90s. 
Built on satire, social commentary and an anything‑goes attitude, they’ve carved out a loyal following with chaotic live shows and cult‑favourite albums like A Man’s Not a Camel and Hi‑Vis High Tea. 
Irreverent, intelligent and unapologetically Aussie, Frenzal Rhomb remain one of the country’s most enduring punk bands - proving you can be hilarious, political and seriously loud all at once.


Killing Heidi
Killing Heidi are Australia’s turn‑of‑the‑millennium pop‑rock breakout - a sibling‑led band that turned teenage angst into chart‑topping anthems.
Fronted by Ella Hooper, they exploded onto the scene with the multi‑platinum Reflector, delivering hits like Weir and Mascara and taking home multiple ARIAs along the way.
Blending grunge edge with glossy hooks and fearless energy, Killing Heidi became the voice of a generation - and remain a defining force in Aussie pop‑rock.


Magic Dirt
Magic Dirt are Geelong’s grunge‑bred rock survivors - a fiercely raw, female‑fronted band that helped define Australia’s alternative scene in the ’90s.
Led by Adalita’s snarling vocals and unfiltered energy, they built their reputation on distorted guitars, dark hooks and chaotic live shows that swung between noise and melody.
From underground beginnings to ARIA‑nominated releases and lasting cult status, Magic Dirt remain one of Aussie rock’s most influential and uncompromising acts.


Regurgitor
Regurgitator are Australia’s ultimate genre‑smashing misfits - a Brisbane-born band that have spent decades gleefully colliding rock, electronic, hip-hop and pop into something entirely their own. Breaking out in the late ’90s with the multi‑platinum Unit, they built a cult following on sharp satire, left-field humour and hooks that swing from filthy punk to glitchy electropop.
Unpredictable, irreverent and proudly weird, Regurgitator have carved out a legacy as one of Australia’s most inventive and impossible-to-box bands - always evolving, never playing it safe.
